REQUIREMENTS

  • Teaching experience with children
  • Have a music degree/or adequate training in specific field of interest
  • A good knowledge of different styles
  • Patience and enthusiasm to teach young children
  • Good communication skills
  • A willing heart to be flexible
  • Most important a passion for teaching the children with the love of Jesus

dance teaching OPPORTUNITIES

Tap Dance Instructor
Applicants should be an experienced teacher who is comfortable in a variety of techniques with an advanced level of tap instruction.  Applicants must be  motivated to create community while developing classes with an emphasis in fundamentals, original choreography and collaboration. This teacher will be comfortable sharing their artistic passion and mature Christian faith to grades Pre-K through High School. The desired candidate will have experience both as a dancer and teacher/choreographer who enjoys engaging with and developing mentor relationships with teenagers. 

WFA staff are highly relational, collaborative in nature and work across disciplines to produce challenging and inclusive opportunities for students. The dance teacher will join a team of colleagues who support one another to develop rich curriculum, unique performance opportunities and an environment where students and staff are encouraged to dig deep into both their technique AND their faith.    

Duties:
  • Provide instruction in a Christ-centered ministry based environment with love for Jesus and students of all ages
  • Instructor will work with our Director of Dance to support students technically, socially and spiritually.
  • Create and maintain a class community that upholds high standards for development and performance while supporting students through that development process to reach appropriate benchmarks for comprehension and execution according to ability.
  • Dance students range from no experience to students who have taken class for several years.
  • Help students build confidence through dance by preparing them with warm-ups, conditioning, and adequate rehearsal time.
  • Be open to holding live and online classes producing appropriate lessons for each scenario
  • Learn and utilize technology to host online classes and develop lessons and assessments that can translate through these platforms should the opportunity arise.-Knowledge and ability to teach proper vocabulary, technique and form.
  • Create choreography for Spring Showcase for all classes.
  • Ability to offer individual private classes as requested.
  • Ability to perform End of the year evaluation and level placement.
  • The dance teacher reports to the Director of Dance.
*The Tap Dance Instructor position is part-time with an average of 2-5 classes a week, with the possibility to substitute for instructors throughout our department (based on experience).

Dance Instructor (Substitutes for all styles and levels)
Applicants should be an experienced teacher who is comfortable in a variety of techniques with an advanced level of various styles of dance and instruction, specifically, but not limited to: Acro, Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Hip Hop and/or Tap.  Applicants must be motivated to create community while developing classes with an emphasis in fundamentals, original choreography and collaboration. This teacher will be comfortable sharing their artistic passion and mature Christian faith to grades Pre-K through High School. The desired candidate will have experience both as a dancer and teacher/choreographer who enjoys engaging with and developing mentor relationships with teenagers.
