Mission of DaCo

The Mission of Woodland Fine Arts Academy’s Dance Company (DaCo) is to provide a safe, Godly environment of concentrated training and development for young artists while glorifying God in the process; with excellence and hard work.

Purpose of DaCo

WFA Dance Company was founded in 2015 to house a progressive, advanced track for young dancers to train in multiple styles. Our goal is to create an opportunity for dancers to flourish in their gifting and passion, grow in their technique and leadership, form a community, learn more about God and give back to their community through ministry opportunities.

DaCo is an audition based group, (made up of 3 separate groups) beginning in 4th grade, placed by skill level, age, maturity, and social dynamics. Companies are committed on a weekly basis to take specific dance technique classes, as well as DaCo choreography. Dancers attend Dance Revolution (DR), a Christian based dance convention, where they perform alongside local studios and take multiple styles of dance from DR’s professional dance staff. In addition to performing in WFA’s Spring Showcase, DaCo also performs locally, has opportunities to dance as a form of ministry in Woodland’s worship services, and competes with solos, duets and trios, alongside their group pieces, at Earthshakers Dance Competition. DaCo participates in Service and Outreach Projects, to serve those around them, broaden their perspectives and be the hands and feet of Jesus. ​

summer 2024 with daco

DaCo dancers will have the opportunity to train and perform in WFA's Made to Create Performing Arts Camp.

​This season, all companies will train through specialty classes and choreography and will have leadership opportunity through assistant teaching.

Training and rehearsals will be during the first week of camp and optional assisting during second week of Performing Arts Camp and the Intro to the Arts Camps.

​Dancers will perform in the Arts Festival on the evening of Friday, June 28th.

Company members then end the summer with DaCo's Summer Intensive, where they build company unity, train in Ballet, Modern and Jazz technique, take conditioning and stretching classes, and begin their company choreography. The DaCo Intensive is a time to build a foundation for our new season, to integrate the new dancers with the returning and to get a head start on getting their bodies back in shape as well as building new choreography. The dancers are also paired as a big/lil with another company member outside of their group and age range. ​

Dance Revolution Dance Conventions offer more classes and events than any other convention of its kind.  Dance Revolution has been traveling the country since 2001 transforming performing artists from city to city and changing the face of dance! How to start progressive training to prepare for daco 

Do you feel your child has potential, drive or desire to do more than recreational dance?
​We recommend starting with one technique class.  

Here is an easy progression:
Kindergarten: Take 1 technique class - ballet, contemporary modern or jazz
1st Grade: Take 2 technique classes - ballet and contemporary modern or jazz
2nd-3rd Grades: Take 3 technique classes - ballet, contemporary modern AND jazz
