Art Department Head
Nena VanDalen is a lifelong creative whose passion lies in inspiring imagination and guiding students to explore their artistic potential. Since 2015, she has served as an Art Teacher and Art Department Head at Woodland Elementary/Middle School and Woodland Fine Arts Academy, where she teaches a wide range of skills including painting, calligraphy, sculpting, art journaling, bookbinding, and crafting. She also designs and builds theatre props and sets for numerous stage productions, blending her love for visual storytelling with hands-on artistry.
Nena’s experience extends into graphic design, event coordination, photography, and creative project management. Her work includes community events, university-level graphics coordination, race branding, and ministry-based visual design. She has created logos, murals, publications, props, and visual content for organizations such as Jacks 50 Race, Jukido Jujitsu, Tulip Creations, Woodland Fine Arts Academy, The Rock Miami, and Florida International University.
A student of Graphic Arts and Advertising Design at Miami Dade Community College, Nena brings additional strengths in bilingual communication (English/Spanish), Microsoft Office tools, and creative leadership. Her goal is to continue inspiring students, organizing meaningful events, and contributing to impactful artistic and graphic design projects.
