Philosophy

Woodland Fine Arts Academy offers music training for elementary-aged children to adults in the fields of voice, piano, guitar, bass guitar, drums, flute, violin and viola. We have highly qualified staff who love to encourage their students to grow in their skill and love for the arts. A personalized instruction plan will be designed to meet each student’s needs and goals.

We will be exploring Ensemble Classes upon the recommendation of each student's instructor.  This will offer a fun and relaxing environment to help develop each student's ability to play with others.  The art of making music is fully experienced when you inspire and are inspired by others in the process of playing a musical piece.

We believe that God has given us unique gifts and talents, and we can glorify Him through the learning and use of those gifts.

individual LESSON FAQ

Do I need my own instrument at home?

Yes.  All teachers will assign practice for home.  A keyboard is fine for piano lessons.  (Exception: you may not necessarily need a full drum set for drum lessons.)

Do I need to bring my own instrument from home?

We supply drums & piano. All others will need to bring their instrument for lessons.

May I watch my child's lesson?

It depends on the instructor.  As a general rule, students show more improvement and better behavior when the parent is not present in the room. Parents are welcome to attend a lesson from time to time in order to observe the teaching situation. Siblings and other friends are not to attend lessons with the student, but may wait in the lobby area of the building.

What if my child is sick & cannot make his lesson?

We ask that you contact the teacher directly (not through the academy director or the church office).  All of our teachers are welcome to give you their personal cell phone numbers. Two make up lesson will be offered per season. Any other missed lessons, fees will be forfeited.

Will there be a recital?

Yes. We have one annual recital. Students are encouraged to participate, but not required.

Recital Date: March 31st - Time TBD

Are there any supplies I need to purchase or provide?

Yes.  Some of our instructors will require lesson books for students to work through and those book fees are NOT included in the monthly fee.

What is your attendance/make-up policy?

Individual makeup lessons are strictly limited to two occurrences if the teacher is notified in advance, and only due to contagious illness or family emergency . Teachers will have specific blocks of time pre-reserved for make-ups before and/or after their regularly scheduled lesson times. Teacher’s can use these makeups time slots at their discretion in coordination with the parent.

In the event that the teacher needs to be absent, there will also be lesson rooms available for two extended weeks at the end of academy year, and one Saturday per month throughout the academy year.

If a student is unable to attend the pre-scheduled make up times offered, then the lesson is forfeited and tuition is still due.
