kristin mazzitelli
Theatre Stage Manager & Instructor
Kristin Mazzitelli, otherwise known as Mazz, has lived here in Bradenton since she was three, and as an only child used to make up imaginary characters and plays to entertain herself. Some people would say not much has changed since she's become an adult. Mazz loves the feeling you get, whether onstage or behind it, when you help bring a story to life so that an audience can enjoy being transported to another time and place.
In high school at Bradenton Christian, Mazz acted in a couple of plays and was a member of the tech team. She was also involved in summer ministry with her church youth group and a part of the production, "Toymaker and Son", for several years. The show was an allegory of the gospel, where the characters were all toys made by the Toymaker (God) and Son (Jesus). The teens would minister the full-length drama driving from FL to OH and back in hot, old vans. But she loved every minute of it! Mazz then graduated from Wheaton College, in Wheaton, IL, with a BA in Communications. While at college, she took several theatre design, acting and directing classes and was also involved backstage with a number of productions.
Some years later, Mazz had the privilege of being a part of and graduating from a Discipleship Training School with YWAM PA (Youth With A Mission Performing Arts) on Long Island, NY. The school focused on four main disciplines - Acting, Dance, Music and Tech. They toured from NY to MN and back traveling on a huge bus (much nicer than the vans of her youth and with air conditioning!), all the while performing "No More Victims" in middle schools, high schools and churches. The show spoke against bullying and violence in schools.
For the past thirteen years, Mazz has been a part of both Manatee Players and Island Players, community theatres here in Manatee County. She's acted in a handful of plays, but the bulk of her experience has been hands-on, working behind the scenes as Stage Manager, Assistant Stage Manager or Deck Captain, participating in 36 shows to date. Mazz is excited to join WFA teaching Production, Props and Sets, and can't wait to help her students use their God-given talents and imaginations to create wonderful things. Break a Leg!
