Art Instructor
As an artist, educator and owner of Firefly Studio, Julia DeJarnette, combines her Christian faith with over a decade of experience teaching elementary art. With a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ambassador University, she draws inspiration from her mentor, Myrtie Parsley, a renowned Kentucky artist, and her passion for creativity.
Specializing in various mediums such as drawing, painting, watercolors, acrylics, clay, weaving, and sewing, Julia fosters an engaging environment for students to explore their God-given talents. Her students have showcased their work in numerous local exhibitions and art shows, reflecting her commitment to nurturing their skills and
confidence.
Beyond her work, Julia has been married to her husband, Danny, for 33 years. Together, they have four children and share their home with a beloved dog named Kaci. In her free time, she enjoys paddleboarding, biking, exploring Florida’s natural beauty, and gardening.
Guided by her faith, Julia emphasizes the beauty of God’s creation, encouraging students to see art as an act of worship and self-expression. She believes in teaching artistic techniques while inspiring students to embrace their individuality, celebrate their creativity, and glorify God through their work. She celebrates individuality as God's Masterpiece: Encouraging students to develop their own unique God-given talents and appreciate their individual artistic styles, recognizing that each person is uniquely created in God's image. She understands that developing artistic skills is a gift and recognizes that wisdom can be understood as being skillful with one's hands.
