Carmelo Nicosia

Beginner Drums, Bass & Guitar Instructor

Carmelo Nicosia is a trained proficient guitarist playing all styles of music.  He started lessons at age 11, with his father and mentor, the late Sal Nicosia. Carmelo has been performing professionally since the age of 17. He worked as a guitar teacher with his father at the Nicosia Guitar Studios in Queens and Ronkonkoma, NY for 15 years and also taught guitar/music at The American Guitar Museum in New Hyde Park, NY.

For the past three decades, Carmelo has performed thousands of shows, concerts, weddings, private and corporate events. As a free-lance musician he’s played with numerous top professional musicians and agencies, ie: Steven Scott Orchestras, 50’s bands: The Drifters and The Crystals. Over the last 25 years, Carmelo has served as a Worship Director/Leader and musician for several churches in the Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island areas. He was band leader and guitarist for a gospel jazz quartet, Harmony Music, which opened for Yolanda Adams. In 1989, Carmelo married Teri Nicosia, herself, a singer and band leader. Together, they formed Harmony Music, later known as Harmony Entertainment Inc. Their commitment to work closely with each client; dreaming, planning every detailed event with the clients specific need in mind. Harmony utilizes a network of highly trained and talented Musicians, Singers, Dancers, DJ’s and uniquely skilled performers, thereby helping their clients “Bring the vision of their event to Life.” One of their passions is performing in Health Care settings. As a result, they are widely known in the healthcare field, providing entertainment for Nursing Homes, Adult Day Care Centers, Senior Centers, Assisted Living Facilities in the NY and Tri-State area.

Recently, Carmelo formed a 501C-3 public charity called “Hope For Living” to continue providing music and other life-affirming music programs for the sick, elderly, under-served/disadvantaged individuals, and groups residing in health care and institutionalized settings. In 2012, Carmelo was inspired to look at the meaning of his given name: Carmelo.  He was awed at finding the true spiritual meaning - "The Garden of God." This led to the inspiration by the Holy Spirit to compose a 9-piece musical suite called: "The Carmelo Project," Based on Galatians 5:22, “And the fruit of the Spirit is: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Gentleness, Faithfulness & Self-Control."

Carmelo’s Passion & Vision:

As a Worship Director, Carmelo has a passion to create an atmosphere of worship for people to experience the Love of Christ, which leads to entering into the presence of the Lord. He has a vision for multi-cultural worship styles, that bring people together from diverse backgrounds to experience worship in Spirit and Truth, with freedom and liberty, guided by the Holy Spirit. As a teacher, his desire is to raise up young musicians and inspire them to use their talent and gifting for the glory of God.
