ava williams
Dance Instructor
From Columbus, Ohio, Ava has grown up as a student in BalletMet’s Dance Academy under the instruction of Maria Torija. At the age of 16, Ava joined BalletMet’s Trainee program where she performed works by George Balanchine including Western Symphony and Walpurgisnacht, as well as classical ballets such as Le Corsaire and Coppelia. Over the years as a student and Trainee she has been granted many opportunities to perform with BalletMet’s professional company as a member of the Corps de Ballet, and has had the honor of working with BalletMet’s artistic director Edwaard Liang. From a young age, Ava has performed The Nutcracker by Gerard Charles and many original works and world premiers choreographed by Edwaard Liang. Such works include Swan Lake, Tributary, Cinderella, Dorothy and the Prince of Oz, Giselle, and Alice. Upon graduation, Ava spent one season with Orlando Ballet as a Trainee under the guidance of Philip Broomhead and was fortunate to perform Jorden Morris’ premiere of The Nutcracker.
Ava has spent her summers in Columbus training with BalletMet, and has also traveled to train with various schools on merit scholarships such as Orlando Ballet, Ballet Arizona, and Colorado Ballet, where she was able to perform multiple classical ballets and works by George Balanchine such as Symphony in C. Ava was very fortunate to receive other scholarships for her summer training through non-profit organizations. She was awarded a scholarship from the Dancing Angels Foundation for her summer intensive studies in 2023.
