General polices

Behavior

At Woodland Fine Arts Academy, we strive to maintain a high standard of classroom management and consistency in instruction. Our behavior policy is designed to support a positive and respectful learning environment for all students and instructors.

Purpose:
This policy helps students understand classroom expectations and provides parents with clear communication regarding behavioral concerns that may arise. All WFA classes will review these expectations during the first week of the season.

Behavioral Procedure:
If a student is disrupting, misbehaving, or being disrespectful during class, the following steps will be taken:
  1. Verbal Reminder – The teacher will address the behavior with a clear and respectful reminder.

  2. Consequence – If the behavior continues, the student may be asked to sit out briefly or miss a fun activity (at the teacher’s discretion). This provides a tangible and age-appropriate consequence if the verbal reminder was not effective.

  3. Parent Contact – If the behavior persists, the student will be informed that their parent will be contacted. Within the week, the teacher will reach out to the parent with a brief explanation of what occurred and work together toward a solution.

Ongoing Concerns:
If a parent is contacted three times regarding behavioral issues, WFA reserves the right to suspend the student’s class participation and/or performance involvement without refund. This measure is taken to ensure the well-being of the student, the teacher, and the rest of the class.

Our Commitment:
Behavior expectations will always be reasonable and age-appropriate. We are committed to using this policy only when necessary, with the goal of preserving a productive and encouraging learning environment for all.

Thank you for partnering with us to help every student thrive in class and grow in their creative gifts!

Tuition & Fees
All class fees are nonrefundable and are due regardless of attendance.

Attendance Expectations
Regular attendance is essential to your child’s progress and the overall success of the class. Please notify your child’s teacher in advance of any planned absence—either through your Parent Portal or by email—so the instructor can plan accordingly.
- Excessive absences may result in a student being withdrawn from the class at the discretion of WFA staff.
- If a student’s attendance has significantly impacted class readiness, WFA will determine whether it is in the best interest of the class and the student to participate in the performance.

Make-Up PolicyGroup Classes:
There are no make-up options for missed group classes.

Individual Lessons
Students are eligible for two make-up lessons per year, only for:
- Contagious illness
- Family emergencies

To qualify for a make-up, notice of absence must be given at least 24 hours in advance.
If 24-hour notice is not provided and the absence is not due to a sudden illness or emergency, the lesson is forfeited and will not be rescheduled.

After two eligible make-ups per year, any additional absences are considered unexcused, and:
- Tuition will still be due.
- The teacher will still be compensated.
- No additional make-up lessons will be scheduled.

Teacher Make-Up Slots:
- Each teacher will designate specific make-up time slots within their schedule.
- If a student is unavailable during those designated times, the make-up is forfeited.

Dress Rehearsal Attendance
Participation in the final dress rehearsal is required and is considered part of the final billing cycle.
- If a student misses the dress rehearsal, they will be unable to perform in the show.
- This policy ensures fairness and preparedness for all involved.

To protect all students and staff:
- Students with contagious illnesses must remain home.
- Students may return only after being fever-free for 24 hours without medication.
- Missed classes due to illness will still be subject to the above make-up policies, and tuition remains nonrefundable.
