Mary Allison is currently WFA's Dance Director. Under her artistic direction, WFA's dance program has grown and expanded since 2011. Originally from Niceville, FL, she began dancing at 3 years old. Upon pursuing her dance education in college she fell in love with modern dance where she first trained with Kristin O’Neal at Santa Fe College. She then received her BFA in Dance from the University of Florida in 2011 where she developed a passion for choreography and performance.
Upon graduation, Mary moved to Sarasota, FL to pursue a professional career in dance with Sarasota Contemporary Dance (SCD). Since 2011, Mary has choreographed for St. Petersburg College, West Coast Civic Ballet, School of Russian Ballet, productions at Southside Elementary School, SCD and has been commissioned to create a piece for a Selah Freedom Fundraiser, raising awareness for Sex Trafficking. Mary had the amazing opportunity to create an entire evening length show "Exploited" inspired by Human Trafficking which was presented by SCD in January 2016. She continues to dance with SCD and is so thankful for the exposure it provides with various guest artists who come in, with all different aesthetics and backgrounds, for residencies from all over the US/world. In 2016, Mary began WFA's Dance Company (DaCo) and continues to direct and choreograph for these audition based groups. While not in WFA's or SCD's studios, you can find her teaching adult fitness classes at LWR barre3 (or maybe she is hanging out with her fluffy cat, Gambit)!
Mary has a passion for teaching and for motivating her students to pursue growth, understanding, excellence and a love for movement, but most importantly to know that God is the root of all things good, and it goes directly back to Him! She could not have dreamed of a better place to call home than WFA and is so thankful for the opportunity to serve as a faculty member of the Academy.
